LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska coach Mike Riley has released a statement on the passing of former Cornhuskers offensive line coach Milt Tenopir.
The second-year Nebraska coach said Tuesday that Tenopir "was a great man and it was a blessing for our staff to get to know him over the past couple years. He will be truly missed but the impact he left will always be remembered. Milt will forever be a Husker."
Tenopir, who died Monday night, was often at practices and had a close relationship with current line coach Mike Cavanaugh.
Tenopir retired in 2003 after 29 years at Nebraska. He coached the "Pipeline" lines that paved the way to three national championships in four seasons in the 1990s.
Tenopir's daughter, Kim Lester, said her father died of cancer. He was 76.
