Boys soccer: St. Edward registers shootout victory
AJ Franklin, Will Gaston, Josh Johansen, and Carson Scarnegie scored shootout goals and Evan Sajtar shut down Chicago Christian in the net Tuesday as the St. Edward boys soccer team earned a 3-2 Metro Suburban Conference win.
Gaston scored both St. Edward goals in the first half, one unassisted and one off an assist from Franklin.
Sajtar made 4 saves in goal for the Green Wave (10-3, 4-0).
Burlington Central 2, Johnsburg 1: Jack Schramme scored both goals for the Rockets in this Kishwaukee River win. Mitchell Gosse and Ryan Wilmington had the assists for BC (5-5-4, 2-1-2).
Streamwood 1, Larkin 1: Oscar Chavez scored off an assist from Aldo Lazaro for Streamwood in this Upstate Eight River tie. Daniel Dominguez had 4 saves for the Sabres (9-4-3, 2-1-2).
Harvest Christian 5, Christian Liberty 1: Cesar Velazquez had a hat trick and added an assist to lead Harvest Christian to this Northeastern Athletic Conference win, which clinched at least a share of the league title for the Lions (9-1-1, 7-0-0). Raphal DeSouza and JT Frantz each added goals in the win.
Dundee-Crown 3, Prairie Ridge 1: Jeremy Jareckyj scored twice and had an assist and Mario Solano added a goal as the Chargers (9-7, 4-1) won this Fox Valley Conference matchup. Luis Cruz had 4 saves in goal for D-C.
Huntley 3, Cary-Grove 0: Aaron Rufner had 2 goals and Luke Loprieno added a goal and an assist for Huntley in its FVC win. Hubert Wasiliewski added an assist for the Red Raiders (9-4-1, 2-1-0), who got 2 saves each from Michael Parks and Andrew Fulcer in goal.
Jacobs 2, CL South 1: Ryan Blanchard had a goal and an assist and Noak Melick added a goal to lead Jacobs to an FVC victory. Angel Merida scored off an assist from Marcin Sliwinski for Crystal Lake South. In the nets, Ethan Pickering (4 saves) and Chris Cranston (1) toiled for the Golden Eagles while Brandon Gorka made 6 stops for the Gators.
ACC 4, Illiana Christian 3: In the Metro Suburban Red, Oscar Rodriguez had 2 goals and Brett Czeral 3 assists to lead the Chargers to a Metro Suburban Red win. Jake Dudziak and Brennan Hare added goals for Aurora Central and Eder Olivas had an assist.
