Join 5K Run for Mental Health to benefit NAMI Oct. 1

The National Alliance on Mental Illness Kane-south, DeKalb & Kendall Counties would like to invite all ages to join the 2016 NAMI 5K Run for Mental Health on Saturday, Oct. 1, starting at the Peg Bond Center at Batavia Riverwalk, 100 N. Island Ave. It is a 9 a.m. start. Cost is $30 online or $35 the day of the race. To register or learn more about this year's 5K, visit nami5K.com.

NAMI KDK is an affiliate of the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. It advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research. It is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need. It is dedicated to improving the lives of people with mental illness and their families. Membership is open to all.

It is active in the community with the "Ending the Silence" school program presented in many local high schools. Monthly Family Support groups are available for family and friends of persons living mental illness. The facilitators for these groups are family members who have received training from NAMI. A weekly Connection Support group is held in Aurora for persons in recovery. Check the calendar at www.namikdk.org for times and locations.
