Man found guilty of 5 charges in death of 4-month-old son

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - A 24-year-old Muncie man has been found guilty of five felony charges in the death of his 4-month-old son last year.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/2dwMbsg ) a jury deliberated less than two hours Monday before finding Cory Wallace guilty of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years old, arson, battery on a person less than 14 years old and obstruction of justice.

Prosecutors said Wallace failed to seek medical attention for his son after he sustained fatal head injuries, and then set fires to the infant's bedroom to try to cover up the cause of death.

Wallace is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 21. His ex-wife, Sheryl Wallace, goes on trial in November.
