Hough Elementary gets grant for new waste sorting table

Using a grant from the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, Hough Elementary School in Barrington bought a new stainless steel sorting station to help students organize their waste into liquids, recycling, compost and landfill waste.

The sorting station also features ketchup, mustard and barbecue sauce dispensers which eliminate the waste created by individual sauce packets, according to a message on the Barrington Area Unit School District 220's Facebook page.

The $1,500 grant from SWANCC was given to the school last year.
