Palmer scores 2 TDS, lifts VMI over Bucknell 23-17 in 3OT

LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Daz Palmer ran for a 12-yard touchdown in the third overtime to lift VMI over Bucknell 23-17 on Saturday.

VMI (2-1) has won consecutive games for the first time since October 2005, and snapped a three-game skid against the Bison (1-3).

Palmer had 80 yards rushing, including a 9-yard score in the first quarter.

The Bison failed to convert a fourth-and-2, but then Julie'n Davenport blocked Reed King's 22-yard field goal attempt to force a second overtime. Both teams then missed field goal attempts before VMI's Riuq Trotman intercepted Matt Muh's first pass in the third overtime to set up Palmer's game-winning run.

Al Cobb completed 34 of 52 passes for 285 yards with three interceptions, and is now the Keydets career passing leader with 6,387 yards and 581 completions.

King kicked a 25-yard field goal with 59 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 17-all.

Muh was 20 of 30 for 226 yards with two touchdown passes and two interceptions.
