Boys soccer: Jacobs blanks DeKalb; Bartlett gets 1st win

Noah Melick and Jacob Sabella scored goals and Ethan Pickering and Chris Cranston combined for 4 saves in the net Saturday as the Jacobs boys soccer team defeated DeKalb 2-0 in nonconference action.

Dan Buirge and John Hoffman had assists for the Golden Eagles, who ran their season record to 8-3-3 with the win.

Bartlett gets 1st win: At the Hampshire tournament, Julio Diaz scored twice and Rudy Reyes added a goal as Bartlett defeated Woodstock North 3-2 for the Hawks' first win of the season. Diaz also had an assist for Bartlett (1-9-3) as did Hernan Garcia. Jeremy Taylor and Zac Rebac combined to make 4 saves in the net. Earlier in the day, the Hawks opened the tournament with a scoreless tie against Harvest Christian. Harvest defeated Woodstock North 4-0 in its second game of the day to advance to next Saturday's championship game.

Huntley 1, Marmion 1: In a nonconference game, Juan Callazo scored Huntley's goal on a direct kick. Andrew Fulcer and Kevin Sieb combined for 6 saves in goal for the Red Raiders (7-4-1).

St. Edward 3, Rockford Christian 1: AJ Franklin scored his 20th goal of the season and added an assist as St. Edward won this nonconference game. Will Gaston and John Johansen added goals for the Green Wave (9-3-0) and Evan Sajtar had 3 saves in goal.
