Man treated at Elgin hospital for superficial gunshot wound

A 40-year-old man was treated at an Elgin hospital Friday night for a superficial gunshot wound, Elgin Police reported in a news release.

Police were called to the emergency room at Presence Saint Joseph's Hospital in Elgin about 10:50 p.m. and talked with the victim, who was treated and released.

Police didn't say where the shooting had occurred or what the circumstances were, but did request that anyone with information contact the Major Investigations Division at (847) 289-2600, or provide anonymous information via (847) 695-4195, or by texting 847411 and including ELGINPD in the beginning of the text.
