HEATHER'S GYM CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING OF NEW STUDIO IN HEART OF LIBERTYVILLE

LIBERTYVILLE, Illinois - Heather's Gym, a Libertyville-based gym specializing in Kettlebell, Barre, Pilates, Yoga, and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) classes, is celebrating its grand opening Saturday, Sept. 24 from 4-6 p.m. at 504 First Street. This celebration is in conjunction with Bodyworks Fitness & Spa's Fall Open House.

"I'm so excited to officially celebrate the Grand Opening of Heather's Gym," said Heather's Gym Founder, Heather Fahrenkrog. "HG is the story of a girl who grew up in a South Jersey gym, with a bodybuilder for a dad and a mom who taught me how to have style and fun in fitness. It's about quality of life, aging gracefully with good posture, and lots of energy. I am thrilled to share my passion with so many who want the same thing."

In the summer of 2014, at the urging of friends and fitness clients, Fahrenkrog went out on her own and started Kettlebell in the Park in Libertyville. With more than 25 years of fitness expertise, Fahrenkrog grew a fast following with her knack for blending disciplines.

"I've been a group fitness instructor all of my life, it even helped pay my way through law school," Fahrenkrog said. "I've worked for many big gyms over the years and as an innovative instructor, I often found it stifling. My philosophy to 'mix it up' was coming to life with my own mix of dynamic classes."

Fahrenkrog's "Kettlebell in the Park" classes grew in popularity prompting the need for an indoor space and additional classes. A growing fitness trend at the time was barre, something no gym in the area was offering. Fahrenkrog found a small studio to sublet, which quickly became too small for the growing up-start. She found a larger studio to sublet and added more certified instructors who shared the same passion for fitness.

"During this time I compiled fitness class information, client information, photos, etc., on the desktop of my home computer," Fahrenkrog shared. "My husband put all of it into one desktop file called … wait for it: 'Heather's Gym.' That's how Heather's Gym was born!"

In early 2016, a mutual friend introduced Fahrenkrog and Cindy Pietrolaj, master trainer and owner of Bodyworks Fitness & Spa (along with her husband Rich, and her brother Mike). Pietrolaj shared with Fahrenkrog her vision for the Bodyworks property - a neighborhood fitness compound - a place where people of all ages and fitness levels could do personal training, group exercise, and enjoy spa services for sports recovery.

"I'll never forget the first time I saw the building which is now the home of HG," Fahrenkrog shared. "The location, the garage door, all those windows - I could visualize a large floating floor inside this adorable building with an industrial feel - right in the heart of Libertyville! Cindy and I shared this vision, so I happily moved HG to 504 First Street. I am thrilled that Bodyworks and HG members seek the same. Our collective vision is now a reality with the opening of HG: personal training, group exercise, and spa services - all at one neighborhood location for our community to enjoy together!"
