Girls volleyball: South Elgin outlasts Batavia

Taylor Hankins pounded 18 kills and Casie Swanson delivered 32 assists and had 11 digs Thursday to lead South Elgin to a 25-21, 27-29, 25-20 Upstate Eight crossover girls volleyball win over Batavia.

Eunice Gueco added 8 digs for the Storm (5-6-2) while Hayley Fisher had 8 kills and 6 digs, McKayla Geraghty 12 digs and Sarah Murray 10 digs.

Batavia is now 9-10 for the season.

Naperville North d. West Aurora: Gillian Jones had 5 kills and 8 digs and Ali Greenwood added 13 digs for West Aurora in a 25-16. 20-25, 25-13 nonconference loss. Carmen Peterson (7 digs), Natalie Jones (7 assists, 3 digs), Farah Taki (6 kills, 2 blocks) and Kayla Battle (5 kills, 3 blocks) also contributed for the Blackhawks (11-9-1).

Elgin d. East Aurora: Kylie Graves had 4 digs and 5 assists, Maddie Schaefer 7 digs and 2 kills and Shelby Stoltz 4 kills to lead the Maroons (12-11) to a 25-5, 25-8 UEC crossover win. Karen Aguirre added 9 digs for Elgin while Skylar Deuel added 3 digs and 8 assists and Inga Suceska had 4 kills, 3 assists and 2 digs.

Dundee-Crown d. Hampshire: Ayana Gard (122 kills, 7 digs) and Ali Buckley (5 kills, 27 assists, 6 digs) led D-C to a 25-20, 14-25, 25-13 Fox Valley Conference win. Emma Brant added 6 kills for the Chargers (7-7, 4-5) while Paige Gieske had 5 kills and 5 blocks and Jenna Thelen 8 digs. Maggie Seagren (8 kills), Riley Seagren (7 kills) and Gianna Garza (11 digs) led Hampshire.

St. Edward d. Ridgewood: Dominque Washington had 10 kills and 5 digs and Erin Kremer added 9 kills as St. Edward won 25-15, 25-19 in the Metro Suburban Blue. Brianna Lopez added 6 digs for the Green Wave (6-7, 4-2).

St. Charles North d. Naperville Central: Gigi Crescendo (7 kills), Abby Graham (5 kills), Katie Lanz (5 kills), Jordan Silvers (4 kills) and Amanda Parker (6 kills) led the North Stars to a 16-25, 25-21, 25-22 nonconference win. Lauren Caprini had 23 digs for SCN.

ACC d. Fenton: Hailey Catich had 4 kills, Sarah Elliott 13 assists, Hayley Decker 17 digs and Rachel Harreld 17 digs to lead Aurora Central (13-5, 5-2) to a 25-12, 25-18 Metro Suburban win.
