Heineman students put on 'Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr.'

Eighty-eight Heineman Middle School students will appear in the school's production of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr." on Friday, Sept. 23, and Saturday, Sept. 24, at the District 158 Performing Arts Center at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday. General admission is $5, and tickets can be purchased at door.

Director Pam Jorgensen says the cast has been in rehearsals since Aug. 8, looking to put their own spin on this "tale as old as time."

"It's both easy and challenging. Everyone knows the show, or has seen the movie, so it's easy to learn their parts," Jorgensen said. "It's challenging because everyone has an idea of how it should look, and we always want to put our own stamp on things."

For questions, call the school office at (847) 659-4300.

"Disney's Beauty and the Beast" is presented through special arrangements with Music Theater International/MTI.
