COD collaborates with other community colleges

College of DuPage trustees recently approved the college's participation in the Comprehensive Agreement Regarding the Expansion of Educational Resources (CAREER), an agreement that provides expanded educational services with 28 other community colleges in Illinois.

"College of DuPage is pleased to collaborate with our sister colleges throughout the state," said Jean Kartje, special assistant to the president for Institutional Academic Effectiveness. "This is an important initiative that provides increased opportunities for residents of Illinois during a time when educational resources are scarce."

Members of the CAREER consortium offer in-district tuition rates for select career and technical programs. Under the agreement, out-of-district students can enroll in an applied science program at College of DuPage from a neighboring college where a particular program is not offered. These students pay in-district tuition rates for the program courses and all general education requirements for the credits generated, as well as the completion record upon graduation.

"This agreement provides an opportunity for students from other districts to enroll in programs that may not be available through their area community colleges," said Kartje, who noted that at least half the colleges in CAREER are within driving distance of College of DuPage.

"Participating in this consortium demonstrates true collaboration with our community college colleagues at a time when resources are tight for all institutions of higher education."
