CLC offers new six-week, certification course in information technology

A new non-credit course, CompTIA®A+® Certification, is being offered by the College of Lake County Oct. 17 to Nov. 28 at the Grayslake Campus. In just six weeks, students will gain the essential skills to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot and maintain personal computer and operating systems. The course also covers network connections and technologies and security.

Students should have experience with Windows-based personal computers, possess internet search skills and understand basic computing concepts. They should have a computer capable of running Windows XP for at-home study. The course fee of $1,999 includes all course materials and the certification exam.

After successfully completing the CompTIA®A+® Certification course, students can seek employment in an entry-level information technology (IT) position or continue with coursework in Cisco CCNA® or CompTIA®Security+® training. CompTIA® is a non-profit, Downers Grove, Ill.-based trade association representing the information technology industry.

To learn more about the CompTIA®A+® Certification course and the IT field, attend an information session from 6-7 p.m. on Sept. 20 in Room T232 or Thursday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. in Room 0424, located in Building 4 on the Grayslake Campus.
