Girls swimming: Barrington tops St. Charles North; Conant 2nd at Woodstock

Barrington's girls swim team added to its impressive start this season by claiming a decisive 117-69 victory over visiting St. Charles North in a nonconference dual meet Saturday.

Sophomore Bridget O'Leary won the 50-yard freestyle (24.93) and 100 free (54.00) and joined Becca Galovich, Maggie Emary and Ally Penrod on the Fillies' winning 400 free relay (3:35.29).

Audrey Guyett supplied the North Stars with victories in the 200 free (1:53.36) and 500 free (4:57.39), and the Stars' Mallory Jump won the 100 fly (58.06).

The rest of the top individual efforts were supplied by Barrington.

Penrod excelled in winning the 100 breaststroke (1:05.38), Emary was tops in the 200 IM (2:08.36), Mia Chen won the 100 back (1:01.04) and the Fillies also had the top two diving performances.

Barrington also got exceptional runner-up finishes from Penrod in the IM (2:08.56), Emary in the 500 free (5:00.62), Catherine Kitzman in the breaststroke (1:07.67) and Emma Graves in the 100 fly (58.87).

Conant second at Woodstock: In a meet which featured scored contributions from all classes, Conant's balanced lineup stacked up well.

The Cougars (523 points) finished second in the team race behind Crystal Lake co-op (625).

Aly Wooley had Conant's top individual finish, a victory in the 50 free for the junior class (25.60).

The Cougars also had a victory from the frosh-soph medley relay of Kayla Wartman, Sarah Erne, Sydney Arnold and Abigail Hanley.

Senior Lea Cejvan placed second in the varsity 100 breaststroke and third in the varsity 100 fly, and Erne was second in the soph 100 free. Wooley also contributed a runner-up finish in the junior 100 free.

Crystal Lake junior Val Tarazi won the varsity 100 fly in 59.16 and the varsity 200 free in 1:57.17.

Huntley had a winner in Katelyn Carlson in the sophomore 100 free, and Jacobs/Hampshire's Izzy Bavaro won the varsity 100 backstroke.
