Poochapaooza offers four-legged fun for pups and owners

Dogs and their two-legged friends can marvel at the athleticism of acrobatic disc-catching dogs, sample food truck treats and join contests at the Glen Ellyn Park District's Poochapalooza.

The sixth annual festival for dogs is 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Spring Avenue Dog Park, 185 Spring Ave., Glen Ellyn. Admission is free.

Participants can take in live performances by SkyDogz, which provides "high energy" Frisbee dog entertainment throughout the Midwest. SkyDogz is scheduled for disc-catching performances at 1:45 and 3 p.m.

Pups can taste the creations of the Fido to Go food truck, which will serve handcrafted, gluten- and allergen-free canine cookies and doggy ice creams and frozen yogurts.

Owners can dress up their pets for a chance to win the costume contest. In addition, there will be a musical sit and frosty paws contest. A tennis ball raffle with prizes and a large, off-leash area will be available for canine participants. New this year is a craft tent for kids.

Pet-friendly vendors will be on-hand sharing information about pet care and services. Vendors include Countryside Animal Clinic, 3 Goldens and a Mutt, K-9 Swim and Trim, Pet Supplies Plus, Beach for Dogs, Nancy's Pet Sitting and Meatheads.
