I took a late summer walk through Lincoln Marsh in Wheaton with my 4-year-old friend and we spotted many of these little critters peeking through the layer of aquatic plants. This was one of the very few wholingered long enough for a portrait, so she became our new friend "Marsha Lincoln" named after the wonderful nature preserve where she resides.

I visited the Chicago Botanic Gard's "Butterflies and Blooms" exhibit during it's last week of the season. I was in photography heaven - so many beautiful butterflies! This delicate creature posed on a branch to show off her wings. I called her "Queen of Hearts" because of the somewhat heart shaped black spots on her wings..

I took this photo of Bailey, our faithful Beagle, who was watching me trimming the pesky trumpet vines and tossing the branches on the patio. It was a hot day and the bricks were a little too warm for her so she decided to chill-out on the leaves.
