TV's Daniel Tiger coming to Naperville museum
Children and their families can meet Daniel Tiger from the animated PBS series "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" on Saturday in Naperville.
The DuPage Children's Museum is sponsoring a "Be My Neighbor Afternoon" from 2 to 5 p.m. at the museum, 301 N. Washington St.
The free event has resulted from a new partnership between the museum and WTTW's Early Learning Initiative.
Participants will enjoy playing old-fashioned games, storytelling, art activities, ringing the bell on the Naperville Trolley parked in front of the museum and giveaways.
A Daniel Tiger Meet and Greet will be from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. in three shifts. Ticketing will start at 1:45 p.m.
"Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" re-creates Fred Rogers' original Neighborhood of Make Believe in vibrant color and texture. Tiger's signature puppet, Daniel Striped Tiger, is transformed into a curious and playful 4-year-old joined by his friends O the Owl, Prince Wednesday, Katerina Kittycat and Miss Elaina.
Participants are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item or new children's book to donate as part of a collection for Loaves and Fishes Community Services in Naperville.
Large crowds are expected. Free parking is available at the Naperville Metra station lots, just steps away from the museum, and on side streets around the museum.
Admission to the museum is free from 2 to 5 p.m., with regular admission rates from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
