Girls volleyball: Butler's big night helps Carmel past Glenbrook North
Grace Butler racked up 7 kills, 26 assists, 16 digs and 3 blocks, and Carmel Catholic's girls volleyball team outlasted host Glenbrook North 25-19, 19-25, 26-24 in a nonconference match Wednesday night.
Carmel (9-4) got a team-best 8 kills from Lauren Nelson, who also had 2 blocks. Erin Taylor added 7 kills, 4 digs and 1 block. The Corsairs' other contributors included Eileen Tarcha (5 kills, 10 digs), Alyssa Dellert (5 kills), Madi Meyer (16 digs, 1 ace), Mia DiBartolo (12 digs) and Jolina Moisio (7 digs, 1 ace).
"Evenly balanced match," Carmel coach David Pazely said. "Closer than it needed to be in the third, but GBN fought hard until the last point. Credit to them for their grit. We needed to be more clinical on offense, but they made us earn our points."
Lake Forest d. Warren: Despite 8 kills apiece from Natalya McNally and Claire Lundtveit, the Blue Devils lost 20-25, 25-14, 25-25 in North Suburban Conference action.
McNally added 4 aces and 17 digs, while Lundtveit also had 3 aces and 5 digs. Hannah Barbosa had 7 digs and Allison Maan de kok dished out 12 assists for Warren.
