Friends of Bloomingdale Library Make Big Donations to Library

The Friends of the Bloomingdale Library have made two big donations to further support Bloomingdale Public Library. The Friends helped purchase a 3D printer with supplies along with a SMART Table.

The 3D Printer is a Dremel 3D-40 Idea Builder. The printer was paid for by the Friends of the Bloomingdale Library along with a grant from the KARA foundation. The printer uses PLA filament, which is a non-toxic, plant-based plastic. The printer will be used for library programs for all ages in the coming months and years. BPL first used the printer as Summer Reading prizes for teens this past summer. In the future, the library will be investigating the possibility of patron-submitted prints as well.

The SMART Table 442i is loaded with educational games and activities to encourage both active, small- group collaboration while also fully engaging the child in learning. BPL hopes to use the SMART Table to promote STEM games and learning opportunities while having fun. It is built to be accessible for all and the library plans on switching focused topics frequently to have the children learn new things all the time.

The Bloomingdale Public Library is always looking for new ways to integrate technology while making the library a fun and educational place to be. BPL thanks the Friends of the Library for their generous support and donations over the years.
