Join hometown anniversary celebration Loving Long Grove Sept. 17-18
Loving Long Grove is a 180th anniversary celebration to honor our hometown and you are invited to a weekend party!
Join them for two glorious days of free events for families.
• Earth Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the Archer Road outlot, adjacent to the Archer parking lot/fire station in downtown Long Grove. Children of all ages will enjoy educational activities, environmental art, games and a lot of fun! They will fill goody bags with projects of their own creation, while supplies last. Admission is free; donation of one canned good or $1 per child. It will benefit Northern Illinois Food Bank.
• Taste of Long Grove from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at various locations around historic downtown. Enjoy a stroll around town while sampling delicious "tastes" of special selections of "grab and go" food and drinks from participating establishments. Modest charge for food & beverages by venues.
• The Amazing Long Grove Race at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. Starting at Sunset Foods, 12 teams of competitors will dash through our historic district completing challenges and puzzles in an effort to take first-place honors. Cheer the teams on and watch their antics as they meet challenge after challenge. The race continues throughout the historic downtown after leaving Sunset Foods. • Party & Auction from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Grove Country Club, 3217 Route 53, Long Grove. It is free. Light refreshments! Dessert courtesy of Sunset Foods! (Cash bar for beverages). Enjoy live music by The Twang! Tethered hot air balloon rides, weather permitting, for lucky winners with the highest bid. Credit cards or checks made out to Northern Illinois Food Bank. Auction winners will take home one of the creative bridges on display now in our historic downtown.
Stroll through town to see the whimsical and artistic bridges on exhibit until Sept. 18 when they will be auctioned to the highest bidders at the party! One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will benefit Northern Illinois Food Bank.
