Harper programs seeks volunteers for free ultrasounds

The Harper College Diagnostic Cardiac and Medical Sonography programs are seeking volunteers interested in receiving free ultrasounds.

Available ultrasounds include exams of the carotid artery (participants must be at least 50 years old) and the arteries/veins of the leg (participants must be at least 18 years old). Ultrasounds will run select weekdays through Thursday, Dec. 1.

All exams will be performed by students on state-of-the-art equipment under the supervision of a registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. The free tests, lasting about an hour each, are non-diagnostic. Volunteers will not receive a medical report, but they may be instructed to follow up with a physician.

Harper's programs conform to all patient safety regulations.

Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Harper College Diagnostics Imaging Lab at (847) 925-6104.
