Free Cyclocross Skills Clinic coming to Batavia Sept. 14

The Batavia Park District has teamed up with the All Spoked Up Cycling Club to host a Cyclocross Skills Clinic at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at West Main Community Park, 40W101 W. Main St.

All skill levels, bikes, and ages are welcome. This event is free and no registration is required.

At the clinic, participants will learn more about cyclocross and how to take things to the next level. Demo bikes will be available. Learn mounting and dismounting, running barriers, 180-degree switchback turns, and more. At the end of the clinic, a low-key race will be set up to give people a chance to test out their skills in a supportive, noncompetitive environment. This is an ideal class to introduce participants to cyclocross and get them ready to do their first race.

Make sure to bring a helmet and bike in good working condition, specifically a mountain bike, hybrid, or gravel/adventure bike. Feel free to bring a cyclocross bike if you have one! Road bikes will have a very hard time navigating grass and dirt.

If you're unable to make the 5 p.m. start time, don't be discouraged. Participants are welcome to come at any time and leave when needed.
