Jacksonville State-LSU Preview Capsule

Jacksonville St. (1-0) at No. 21 LSU (0-1), 7:30 p.m. (ESPNU)

Line: No line.

Series Record: First meeting.

WHAT'S AT STAKE

LSU wants to straighten out its passing game and offensive line - and win convincingly in the process - to gain confidence in its ability to bounce back from a season-opening upset loss to Wisconsin. It's the Tigers' only tuneup before opening Southeastern Conference play vs. Mississippi State. Jacksonville State aims for a program defining upset in Death Valley. The Gamecocks took Auburn to overtime last year.

KEY MATCHUP

Jacksonville State's defensive front vs. LSU's offensive line. With three players in new spots along the offensive line, the Tigers struggled to run block and pass protect consistently against Wisconsin. If they get it fixed, JSU will likely struggle to contain the Tigers' skill players. JSU had two defensive lineman and a linebacker named preseason all-conference.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Jacksonville State: Dual-threat QB Eli Jenkins, whose 8,688 total yards of offense in his career place him 1,000 yards ahead of any other player in JSU history - with practically his whole senior season left.

LSU: CB Tre'Davious White, who came back for his senior season, could emerge as one of the best defensive backs in the nation this season. He had an interception for a touchdown, a fumble recovery four total tackles and a pass breakup in LSU's opener. He also returns punts.
