Food producer relocates to southern Indiana from Illinois

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A manufacturer of gluten-free and allergy-friendly cookies and other foods says it has moved its production and distribution operations from suburban Chicago to southern Indiana.

Enjoy Life Foods said Thursday it plans to create 200 new jobs in Jeffersonville by the end of 2017. It already has hired 100 employees there.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said the company is investing more than $39 million to lease and equip a 200,000-square-foot plant that will allow it to more than double its production footprint from its previous site in Schiller Park, Illinois.

Enjoy Life Foods is received up to $800,000 in conditional state tax credits based on its job-creation plans, plus local incentives.

The IEDC says more than 50 Illinois-based companies have relocated to Indiana since 2005.
