Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan offer Peace Corps Prep

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - Illinois State and Illinois Wesleyan universities are teaming up to prepare students for work in the Peace Corps.

A news release from the two universities in Bloomington-Normal says the Peace Corps Prep certificate program will prepare students for development work internationally or within the U.S.

The Peace Corps-approved program draws on classes already available in the university curriculum and is open to all majors. Participants are not required to apply for the Peace Corps.

The Peace Corps is also funding a graduate assistant at Illinois State to serve as a campus recruiter.

A program launch event for interested students will be held on Sept. 20 at the Bone Student Center at Illinois State.
