Teen arrested in fatal Springfield shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Springfield police arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager last weekend.

The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reports (http://bit.ly/2cw1y0i ) the arrest was announced Wednesday after members of the U.S. Marshal's Task Force apprehended the boy on an active warrant in the death of 18-year-old Dwayne S. Davis.

Scott Hanken is the lawyer for the suspect, whose name was not released because he's a juvenile. Hanken says his client voluntarily surrendered at the lawyer's office.

Davis was pronounced dead at 6:04 p.m. Monday at a Springfield hospital where he was taken after the shooting at about 9 p.m. Saturday.

Police say they don't know the gunman's motive and would only say the suspect and the victim knew each other.
