Injured Minnesota hockey player leaves center, moves home

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (AP) - A hockey player from Minnesota who was paralyzed from the chest down during a game in Illinois is home with his family.

In a statement released by Allina Health, the family of Matt Olson says he was discharged Wednesday from the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Golden Valley and moved back home with his family in Isanti (eye-SAN'-tee).

His family says Olson "is excited to be back home and is looking forward to this next chapter in his life."

Olson, a junior league defenseman with the Chicago Cougars, suffered a spinal cord injury when he slammed into the boards during a February game at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.

Olson also received care in Illinois and at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He will continue outpatient therapy.
