Rockford dedicates new history center for women's baseball

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Members of the Rockford women's baseball team portrayed in the 1992 movie "A League of Their Own" were among the attendees at the dedication of new facilities for the International Women's Baseball Center.

The facilities will be across the street from Beyer Stadium where the Rockford Peaches once played. The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/2ckGPfD ) that the $6 million project that was dedicated Saturday will be the first brick-and-mortar location for the International Women's Baseball Center.

The project will include a museum that could open in the spring. The property will also eventually have green space for batting cages or a warm-up area for tournaments at Beyer Stadium.

The Peaches won four league titles from 1945 to 1950.
