Rock band Smash Mouth highlights Septemberfest Sunday

Live music, carnival rides, family activities and more highlighted Schaumburg's 46th annual Septemberfest, Sunday on the village's municipal grounds.

Main stage entertainment featured a performance by platinum-selling rock band Smash Mouth, whose string of 1990s hits includes "All Star" and "Walkin' on the Sun." Fireworks followed the show.

The festival wraps up Monday with the annual Labor Day Parade, where the theme is the celebration of Schaumburg's 60th anniversary. The two-mile parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Wise Road and Summit Drive and proceed north on Summit to Stock Port Lane.

Monday's main stage entertainment is provided by local favorite 7th heaven.

This year's Septemberfest debuted a Craft Beer & Wine Tent within the Arts & Crafts show. Among the daily highlights are the Schaumburg Police Department's Crime Prevention workshop featuring child ID fingerprinting, information about the Citizens' Police Academy and Neighborhood Watch, and personal safety information.

The Taste of Schaumburg area of the festival grounds allows visitors to sample food from local vendors.
