Enjoy guided, evening hikes at Kane County forest preserves

Get in your daily 10,000 steps during evening hikes with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County.

Each month, participants, age 18 or older, will take an invigorating two-hour hike at a different forest preserve. "Trek with a Naturalist" programs are designed for those who like active hiking.

The hikes will be led by a naturalist who will interpret the ecology of the preserve along the way.

Join one or all three hikes.

The first will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles. Meet at the Great Western Trail, on the south side of Dean Street.

The second hike will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at Campton Forest Preserve, 4N379 Town Hall Road in St. Charles.

The third hike will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Muirhead Springs Forest Preserve, 42W855 Bahr Road in Hampshire.

These programs are free. Advance registration is required. Call (630) 444-3190 or e-mail programs@kaneforest.com to register.
