Webster's gem sends Schaumburg Boomers to 4-1 win

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - The Schaumburg Boomers completed the road portion of the schedule with a 4-1 win over the Traverse City Beach Bums to win the season series.

Seth Webster allowed a pair of hits in the first inning before retiring 10 straight in his final start of the year. Mike McClellan gave Schaumburg a 1-0 lead with his second homer of the year, a solo blast in the second. Jordan Dean and Mark Nelson added RBI singles in the fourth with Dean tacking on another on a fielder's choice in the seventh.

Webster did not allow a hit after the first until the seventh, retiring 18 of 19 hitters. The righty tossed seven innings and struck out nine to win his eighth of the year. Dexter Price worked the ninth to post his 14th save. McClellan and Tobias Moreno each posted a pair of hits.

Right-hander Scott Schultz takes the ball on Friday night at home against the Windy City Thunderbolts as the Boomers, named as the 2016 Frontier League Organization of the Year, open the final series of the year. The 2016 season is entering the final weekend.
