Girls volleyball: Dundee-Crown trips up Cary-Grove

Dundee-Crown's girls volleyball team scored a huge win for the program Thursday night, defeating perennial Fox Valley Conference power Cary-Grove 25-12, 25-22.

Emma Brant had 6 kills, Ayana Gard 4 kills and 2 aces and Ali Buckley 13 assists and 5 digs to lead the Chargers (2-2, 2-2). Zoe Sitarz contributed 6 digs and Paige Gieske had 4 blocks for D-C.

Batavia d. Streamwood: Jenna Garrett had 19 assists and 3 digs and Micaela Hix added 6 kills and 2 aces to lead Batavia to a 25-6, 25-16 Upstate Eight River win. Sara Prier also had 5 kills for Batavia (4-4, 1-0).

Glenbard East d. West Aurora: Ali Greenwood (11 digs), Gillian Jones (6 kills, 6 digs), Farah Taki (4 kills) and Natalie Jones (7 assists) led West Aurora (4-5, 0-1) in a 25-18, 25-22 Upstate Eight Valley loss.

St. Edward d. Elmwood Park: In the Metro Suburban Blue, Dominique Washington had 16 kills and 7 digs as St. Edward (1-2, 1-0) won 25-9, 25-15. Erin Kremer (15 digs), Brianna Lopez (12 digs) and Erin Aldana (14 assists) also contributed to the win for the Green Wave.

Huntley d. Jacobs: Aly Dion had 9 kills and 8 digs, Aleah Amello added 6 kills and 4 digs and Caitlin Thorelius had 6 kills to lead the Red Raiders (2-1, 2-1) to a 22-25, 25-8, 25-6 FVC win. Nicole Miller had 36 assists for Huntley while Taylor Jakubowski added 6 digs and 12 assists.

South Elgin d. Lake Park: In nonconference action, Hayley Fisher had 22 kills and Taylor Hankins added 21 to lead the Storm (1-1) to a 23-25, 25-14, 25-21 win. Casie Swanson had 28 assists and 11 digs, Fisher added 20 digs, Sarah Murray 13 digs and Hankins 10 digs.
