Audition for new Schaumburg Children's Chorus

The newly created Schaumburg Children's Chorus is holding auditions beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, and Sunday, Sept. 11. Other dates are also available by appointment. Auditions will be held at the Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg. The chorus is open to students in grades 3 and up.

Individuals interested in auditioning are asked to be prepared to sing a short song of their choice (an accompanist will be provided if they bring in music, or they may sing a cappella).

If they do not know a song to sing, they will be taught "My County 'Tis of Thee" at the audition. Children will sing "Frere Jacques" (Are You Sleeping) in canon. If they are not familiar with this song, it will be taught at the audition. They will have a mini voice lesson to explore vocal range and tone.

The participation fee for the children's chorus is $150 for the 2016-17 season, plus a $25 family membership fee for the Prairie Center Arts Foundation. Installment payment plans available. Rehearsal materials and folders are included in the fee.

Rehearsals will be from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Sundays, beginning Sept. 18. Start times will be earlier on some dates. A complete schedule will be distributed at the start of the season.
