MCC to offer seminars on retirement, home buying and estate planning

Learn the most up-to-date information on retirement, buying a new home or investing in property so you can make the right decisions for you and your family, with classes offered by McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department.

• "Navigating Retirement Income Roadblocks: Will Your Income Make the Journey?": Retirement is not a destination … it's a beginning. Understanding the roadblocks and having a plan for managing your retirement income can help you keep your retirement dreams on track. During this session, we'll discuss the impact of withdrawal rates, the corrosive power of inflation, the importance of asset allocation and much more to help you review your retirement income strategy. • "First-Time Home Buyer with a Down Payment Assistance Program": Are you a first-time homebuyer in need of assistance? This course offers valuable insights in the process of homeownership. Learn the roadblocks to avoid. Familiarize yourself with contracts, closing costs, inspections, appraisals, down payments, interest rates, credit requirements, and negotiating with banks and sellers. • "Investing in Real Estate": Learn everything you need to know about buying your first rental property and building your real estate portfolio. Learn what to look for in foreclosed properties and the roadblocks avoid. Familiarize yourself with contracts, closing costs, inspections, appraisals, down payments, interest rates, credit requirements, and negotiating with banks and sellers. • "Estate Planning": This workshop provides an abundance of information about basic estate planning, how to do it, why it should be done, and what things should receive special attention. The instructor will also discuss steps people can take without the aid of an attorney. Class takes place from 7 to 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Room A119. Cost is $25.
