Legion looks for police, firefighter grave sites in Des Plaines

Sons of American Legion Squadron 36 is making its final push to locate grave sites of police and firefighters interred at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, where volunteers plan to place American flags on Sept. 11.

Organizers behind the flag placement event have asked anyone with a family member who spent time in a police or fire department and would like their service recognized to contact the Legion to provide the person's name and gravesite location.

Several dozen volunteers placed more than 4,000 flags at the grave sites of veterans at All Saints on Memorial Day weekend.
