Hinsdale Orchestra Opens Ticket Sales for 2016-2017

Season tickets are now on sale for the West Suburban Symphony's October 2016 to June 2017 concert series in Hinsdale and Naperville.

"We're offering our audiences exciting music, both familiar and new, written from the Baroque era through 2016, by more than 20 composers," says Symphony president Richard Lukes. "And we're proudly celebrating the 70th anniversary of our founding in La Grange Park by the former West Suburban YMCA."

The orchestra opens its season on October 16 at Hinsdale Central High School, with Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheharazade symphonic poem and other music inspired by fantasy, followed by its annual holiday concert on December 11, also at Hinsdale Central, which this year features music from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker ballet and from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

On February 19, 2017, the orchestra presents Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, known for its "Ode to Joy" finale, with chorus and vocal soloists at Hinsdale Central, and on March 12, performs at Union Church of Hinsdale, with a program that includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 and the premiere of Elysian, a 2016 composition by Chicagoan Elijah Smith.

More music by Tchaikovsky is in store for the orchestra's April 30 concert at Hinsdale Central: his Symphony No. 3 and dance movements from his Eugene Onegin opera. On June 25, the orchestra and its chorus perform familiar music from movies from 1920 to today, including compositions by John Williams, at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville.

All concerts are on Sundays, with performances in Hinsdale starting at 3:30 pm and the performance in Naperville at 4:30 p.m.

Season tickets are on sale through October 15 for $114 for all six concerts ($102 for seniors 65 and older). Individual-concert tickets, also now on sale, are $24 ($22 for seniors, $5 for teens, and free for children 12 and under). Quantity discounts are available for tickets purchased in advance through June 24.
