Large numbers turn out for concert series
Elk Grove Village wrapped up its 8th annual "Unity Within The Community" Mid-Summer Classics Concert Series in style with a performance by Michael McDonald on the Village Green.
More than 60,000 people attended the concert series, which also featured Peter Cetera, LeAnn Rimes and Foreigner. This lineup and high attendance has sealed Elk Grove Village's reputation for offering premiere entertainment to residents.
This concert series was free to attend, due in part to the unique partnership and support of the Elk Grove Park District, the Elk Grove Public Library, Elk Grove High School and corporate sponsors. Their support helped the village set the standard for the highest quality in community entertainment.
"As reported in local media, Elk Grove is the place to be for summer concerts. It is wonderful to see so many residents come together to enjoy a summer evening with family and friends, building memories and a sense of community that will last for many years to come," said Mayor Craig B. Johnson.
The concert series would not be possible without the hard work of village employees and volunteer CERT members, who ensure smooth operations and help maintain a safe and family-friendly environment for concert goers.
A special thanks goes out to police officers, whose daily dedication to keeping the Elk Grove community safe ensures that the village can continue to host special events throughout the year.
