Monaco beats Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 in French league
PARIS (AP) - Monaco beat defending champion Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 on Sunday to move level on points with Guingamp and Nice at the top of the French league.
Portugal midfielder Joao Moutinho and Brazilian defender Fabinho scored in the first half. Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani pulled a goal back midway through the second half before an own goal from PSG right back Serge Aurier sealed the points for Monaco.
All three have seven points, one more than Lyon and PSG.
Moutinho, who played in Portugal's European Championship final win against France last month, struck in the 13th minute.
Center half Andrea Raggi's pass freed full back Djibril Sidibe down the right and his cross fell kindly to Moutinho, who ran onto it and hit a firm shot past goalkeeper Kevin Trapp from just inside the penalty area.
Monaco doubled its lead on the stroke of halftime when Brazilian defender Fabinho scored from the penalty spot after countryman David Luiz had fouled another Brazilian, Jemerson, following Moutinho's free kick.
Fabinho, who has scored all four penalties he has taken this season - including two in the Champions League qualifying win against Spanish side Villarreal - coolly sent Trapp the wrong way from the spot.
Shortly after PSG left back Layvin Kurzawa missed a good chance against his old club, Cavani pounced in the 63rd when he headed in Aurier's cross.
But Aurier then turned Sidibe's cross into his own net with 10 minutes left.
Monaco was also the last team to beat PSG prior to this game, when it won 2-0 in Paris on March 20.
Earlier, Uruguay striker Diego Rolan scored the winning goal as Bordeaux beat Nantes 1-0.
Former France winger Jeremy Menez, who joined Bordeaux from AC Milan this season, beat defender Diego Carlos and his cross found Rolan at the back post.
The 23-year-old Rolan, who netted 15 league goals for Bordeaux two seasons ago, managed only seven last term but has scored two in three games so far.
The win moved Bordeaux up to seventh place, one above Toulouse, which beat Bordeaux 4-1 last weekend but could only draw 0-0 away to Saint-Etienne in Sunday's other game.
