Irsay says Colts' Mewhort expected to miss 2-4 weeks

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis Colts left guard Jack Mewhort is expected to miss two to four weeks with a knee injury.

That's good news for a team that feared Mewhort sustained a season-ending torn ACL in Saturday night's 33-23 loss to Philadelphia.

Team owner Jim Irsay confirmed the news in a Twitter post Sunday afternoon.

Mewhort started each of the past two seasons and is expected to play a key role in Indy's revamped offensive line.

The Colts kept Mewhort and tackle Anthony Castonzo intact on the left side of the line while trying to beef up the rest. Indy drafted center Ryan Kelly in the first round, then took three more linemen in the draft.
