Concours d'Elegance celebrates milestones for three classic cars

The Concours d'Elegance celebrated its 12th anniversary Sunday in downtown Geneva by celebrating the milestone birthdays of some classic automobiles.

The event, which takes place up and down Third Street, featured hundreds of antique, classic and modern automobiles in both competition and club lots throughout the downtown.

Included in the display were three featured groups celebrating birthdays.

This year is the 100th birthday of the Packard Twin Six Automobile, the 100th anniversary of the BMW company, and the 50th anniversary of Shelby Mustangs. Visitors got a chance to see examples of all three, as well as the hundreds of other pristine and classic automobiles.

The show is in annual rite for photography enthusiast Arnie Kalnins of Batavia.

"I take a few hundred photos every year," said Kalnins, who creates images from the classic details found on many of the older cars.
