The Eli Skinner Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is sponsoring an essay contest to commemorate one hundred years of the National Park Service.

Students in grades 5 through 8 in public, private, and home schools may submit essays titled "Celebrating a Century: America's National Parks" in which they pretend that they are writing a journal while visiting one of the 58 national parks.

The National Park Service manages approximately 84.4 million acres of national parks in 29 states.
