Proactive water tests for Wheeling Twp. Dist. 21 yield positive results

At its meeting last week, Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 board of education members received results from voluntary, proactive water testing that took place across the district this summer. Sinks and fountains tested across the district were all below "action levels" of copper and lead, as determined by the Environmental Protection Agency.

"(The district) will continue to be proactive in its monitoring and testing of water to ensure it remains within federally-acceptable standards as defined by the EPA," said Glen Michellini, the district's director of operations.

Samples were collected from 58 sites across the district's 14 buildings. The samples were analyzed for copper and lead levels and compared to the EPA's National Primary Drinking Water Regulations, or Primary Standards.
