Don't let the back-to-school hoopla make you think summer's over. There are still plenty of festivals and outdoor concerts to enjoy before your weekends get consumed by raking leaves and carving pumpkins. Here are five ideas for this weekend in the suburbs. <h3 class="breakHead">Palatine Street Fest</h3>

Party in Palatine: Keep summer going at the free three-day Palatine Street Fest at Brockway and Slade streets. The event features music by Uncle Kracker at 10:30 p.m. Saturday as well as other bands. Food vendors, dancing, a roving magician, a pet parade and more are also planned. palatinestreetfest.com. 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, Aug. 26; 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday, Aug. 27; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28.

Browse booths at the Glen Ellyn Festival of the Arts, a juried art show at Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn. The fest also features live music, children's activities, food vendors and a beer and wine garden. Free. glenellynlions.org. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27 and 28.

Celebrate a range of cultures through food, entertainment and activities at the Elgin International Fest, at Riverside Drive Promenade, off Riverside Drive, Elgin. The fifth annual festival showcases Elgin's diversity. Free. elginifest.org. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27.
