Statue of Fatima to stop in Schaumburg

The world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima will make a stop at Church of the Holy Spirit in Schaumburg on Wednesday.

The church is hosting a day full of events marking the occasion. At 9 a.m., the Rev. George Kane will lead a Mass in front of the statue. From noon until 5 p.m., visitors will be allowed to come before the statue individually for private prayers.

The statue is one of two "twin" statues sculpted in 1947 by José Thedim to the precise instructions of Sister Lucia, reflecting the position of the Blessed Virgin when she is said to have revealed herself as the Immaculate Heart to shepherd children in 1917.
