Leading With Heart

A new year begins for the Women's Club of Inverness (WCI) a philanthropic organization dedicated to serving the needs of women, children, families and seniors in the communities surrounding Inverness. This year's theme: Kindness is the new pretty. WCI has planned a full calendar of activities.

Palatine Township's back-to-school program, Apple Tree, led off in August with members volunteering to help children choose school supplies. While selecting crayons and notebook, glue sticks and pencils, one young girl shared her excitement. Her brother was about to enter the classroom of the teacher she had last year. "My teacher gave us things to do. He'll like her," she said. WCI sends a big thank you to the parents who were the first teachers and to the classroom teachers all of whom created the excitement and joy in the eyes of these children.

Next up in early September, the first general meeting begins with representatives from local philanthropic organizations and a former scholarship recipient sharing experiences. October brings Make-a-Difference Day opportunities to the members of Women's Club of Inverness. At the end of October, the first fundraiser kicks off with Witches and Broomsticks at Medinah Country Club. Filling in days between these two October events is the sign-up for Adopt-a-Family.
