Elgin Kennel Club to host 24th annual show this weekend
The Elgin Kennel Club will hold its 24th annual AKC licensed all-breed dog show, featuring nearly 1,200 dogs and more than 135 breeds, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, and Sunday, Aug. 28, at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 S. Randall Road in St. Charles. Admission is $6 per car or $10 for a two-day pass. No personal pets are allowed.
"We are delighted to welcome spectators back to Elgin Kennel Club's annual dog show in St. Charles," said Heidi McClure, PR chairwoman. "Not only is this a fun activity for families but it is the perfect place to talk to breed experts about topics such as training, grooming and the right breed for your lifestyle. An AKC dog show is also a great place to start your search for a responsible breeder."
In a special presentation, on Saturday, Aug. 27, prior to Best In Show judging, a bulletproof dog vest will be presented to Carpentersville Police K-9 Officer Jason Caudle and Blitz. Come to show your support for our officers in blue!
Among breeds shown at the fairgrounds will be the Irish Red and White Setter, Swedish Vallhund, Parson Russell Terrier and the Cane Corso. From Affenpinschers to Portuguese Podengo Pequenos to Vizslas and Xoloitzcuintli, this show is an opportunity to meet other dog owners and pick your next "best friend," the kennel club said in a release.
"Best In Show" will be selected and cash prizes awarded daily.
Junior showmanship also will be judged.
