Girls volleyball: St. Viator gets three-set win over BG

St. Viator's girls volleyball team notched its first win of the season on Wednesday night at the Wheaton North Tourney.

After falling to the host Falcons in three sets, the Lions bounced back with a 25-23, 17-25, 25-8 victory over Buffalo Grove.

Top attackers for Viator (1-2) were Catherine Hickey (14 kills), Kaylee Liberty (12), Kendall Claffey (9), Kate Nottoli (7), Katie Kerrigan (6), Michaela Mueller (4) and Carrie Leazer (3).

Mueller, a junior setter, also collected 42 assists, 20 digs and a team-high 4 aces.

Leazer (3 assists) came up with 18 digs while Hickey chipped in 16.

BG (0-3) was led on attack by Nadia Tarsova (4 kills), Lindsey Prommer (4), Sasha Rozhko (3) and Kanella Kalyviaris (3).

Hannah Schuler handed out 7 assists while Maggie Streckert had 6.

The Bison also dropped a two-set match to Wheaton North (25-15, 25-19). Tarsova led the attack with 4 kills while Marianna Galati and Kalyviaris had 3 apiece.
