College of DuPage to Host 'Writing on the Edge' Conference Sept. 24

College of DuPage will host "Writing on the Edge: Innovation from the Outside In" from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, in the Student Resource Center, Room 2000, on the College's main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn. This conference is open to all writing instructors, adjunct or full time, administrators, high school teachers, staff members and other individuals who would benefit from the material provided at this event.

Sponsored by the College of DuPage Office of Adjunct Faculty Support, MacMillan Education, McGraw Hill Education and Pearson Higher Education, this conference aims to bring together English and ESL adjunct faculty engaged in the teaching of writing across platforms for information sharing and networking. Sessions will focus on the work of adjuncts to further composition pedagogy and address topics in multimodal literacy, technology in the classroom, positive student engagement and enhanced professional practice.

Michigan State University writing professor and author Danielle DeVoss will deliver the keynote address, "Writing on the Digital Edge," covering a variety of topics that reveal the prospects and complications of writing in digital realms.

A pre-conference workshop titled will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23. Presented by DeVoss and Nick Carbone from MacMillan Publishers, this workshop will focus on composing and managing multimodal projects. In addition, a pre-conference reception for keynote speaker Devoss will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23.

Registration for these events is required and seating is limited. Please click here to register. The Early Bird rate is $30 by Sept. 9 and $40 after that date. This fee includes breakfast, lunch and entry into all sessions.
