Valley Hi must be held accountable

I agree wholeheartedly with the recent editorial criticizing Valley Hi's management for failing to contain the scabies outbreak and failing to report it to the public health officials.

This scandal and cover-up would never have come to light if not for the efforts of State Representative Jack Franks. Franks publicly exposed the crisis after getting the Illinis Department of Public Health involved to investigate the temporary closure of Valley Hi.

Franks took his concerns to the Valley Hi Operating Board in a public meeting where board members admitted knowing nothing of the crisis. The Valley Hi administrators dismissed Franks' concerns as just political. IDPH then concluded that Franks was right and that Valley Hi management created and covered up the outbreak.

Valley Hi administrators must be held accountable and the residents, employees and taxpayers supporting Valley Hi owe Representative Franks thanks for his dogged pursuit to protect our most vulnerable citizens.
