Fire win first road game in years

MONTREAL - Luis Solignac, David Accam and Matt Polster scored and Chicago beat Montreal for its first road victory in more than two years.

The last-place Fire (5-11-7) hadn't won on the road since a 5-1 victory in San Jose on July 23, 2014.

Chicago opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Accam raced upfield after a Montreal corner and fed Solignac on the left side for his fourth goal of the season. The Fire stuck on another counter in the 73rd when Michael de Leeuw slipped a pass to Arturo Alvarez for a shot that went off Accam and rolled slowly over the goal line. Polster scored from the left side in the 89th.

Montreal dropped to 8-7-9.

NEW YORK CITY FC 1, LOS ANGELES 0

NEW YORK - David Villa scored in the sixth minute and New York City FC stretched its undefeated streak to four games, beating the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 on Saturday in their first trip to Yankee Stadium.

Eastern Conference-leading New York City (11-7-8) has not been beaten since July 24, a 4-1 road loss against the New York Red Bulls. The Galaxy (9-4-11) were unbeaten in nine games.

Galaxy goalkeeper Clement Diop blocked Ronald Matarrita's low shot, yet Villa was right in front of the goal to tap in the deflection for his MLS-leading 16th goal of the season.

Diop kept it close, sliding to block Villa's shot attempt in the 38th minute. Villa grabbed that rebound but shot wide left. In the 80th minute, Villa shot high to the left near post, but Diop knocked it out with another jumping, one-handed block.

CHESTER, Pa. - Sebastian Giovinco scored his MLS-leading 16th goal and Toronto FC beat Philadelphia to extend its unbeaten streak to six games.

Giovinco slipped behind the defense, set up by Delgado's long feed on a counterattack, and blasted a left footer off the far post and into the near side net to open the scoring in the 18th minute.

Drew Moor and Jozy Altidore also scored for Toronto (11-7-7). Ken Tribbett scored for Philadelphia (9-9-7).
